| subject: | ATM Compliant cross hinge - is this correct? |

I've hastily put together some views of what I think is a compliant cross
hinge. See:
http://overton.tamu.edu/aset/krajci/cell-12-pt/cross-hinge.htm
Is this the correct way to make one?
As I study more about mirror cell design...I am leaning more and more
toward the use of compliant hinges. This will help reduce problems with
slop and friction. At this point I don't know if I'll use compliant hinges
like the cross hinge picture above, or Richard Schwartz's method of using a
button of RTV silicone as the compliant hinge between mirror cell members.
The button of RTV silicone sure is compact, and simple to fabricate. That
certainly gets my attention. But will it have the stiffness I need for my
CCD/imaging scope design?
