Hey Ward! Sep 06 19:33 04, Ward Dossche wrote to Maurice Kinal: WD> That is odd ... the day before yesterday we celebrated the liberation WD> of my hometown in 1944 by Canadians. You're probably right. I didn't think we were there that "trip" but what do I know. All of the stories I heard were about your neighbours. WD> Don't tell me these were English? Doubtful we'd be mistaken for English, despite what the Quebecois might think about this particular issue, but I could easily understand the English taking the credit. Same could be said about the Americans who claim they liberated your country btw. They kidnapped a German fieldmarshall who surrendered to the Canadians and took full credit for that. So understandable why I might think we weren't there right? I know my father wasn't in Belgium or at least he never mentioned it. He did talk about Holland. Maybe he was smitten by a lass and forgot the rest eh? Anyhow the Canadians did their part for sure. I don't believe we want to repeat that but we're still proud for those who did. No doubt about that here.
