But if your exchange can offer you a digital line on requesting it ( $10 & a

number change) now, Then this means that part of the exchange is digital

 and therefore in the near future they will upgrade to All digital. ( In their

own time ) So if you wait a bit you will end up with digital switching and

still retain your original number

I thought this as well, But in reality, my old ARE11 line at my old home gave

me a 33600/33600 connect every time to Dave Drummond (Boss Node) where as 

when I shifted house I got a system12 digital exchange ( now 17Km from David

instead of 13Km ) and my connect speed dropped to 33600/31200 contantly.



Do what Ian suggests though, Don't knock back a digital switching exchange

If they come begging you to take it.
