Hi
If one melted the glass in a vacuum, there would be
no trapped gas and the bubbles would collapse. Another thought would be to
take the heated glass that was flowing and place it in a partial vacuum.
The bubbles would expand and float, quickly to the top. One could then
remove the vacuum and skim the floating bubbles from the top.
I wonder how it is done in the glass shops? They
surely have bubble from the first time they melt the glass. Somehow these
are all gone by the time they finish.
