subject: Spirit Viper problems

JR> All made by Well Communications in Taiwan. The Mike Bourne version of
JR> the internal seems to be missing the isolating cover over the phone
JR> side of the board (at least on the several I have tested - obtained
JR> from stores behind the QVB building in Sydney). They also don't seem
JR> to pass the new 240volt regs 6.33, but neither do the Diamond / BEST /
JR> AutoMark / V.34s. So they will all have to be re-designed, re-tested,
JR> or go off the market like all the Askey DynaLinks.

Can you please tell me if the isolating cover, or that 240volt regs will
affect modem performance at all? I got the spirit viper(int), and I haven't
connected at 28800 yet, mostly 26400, or 24000.

Do you have any suggestion in how I can improve it.
