I've mentioned this before, but it is worth mentioning again.

Karen Horney divided all inner conflicts into 3 groups. 

One was MOVE AGAINST OTHERS, this group she defined clearly and in some length.
She also devised a method for treating the disorder.

It would answer your concerns IMO.
