| subject: | Re: M34F`s Being Recalled |
The courageous Spaceman Spiff, Intermail Explorer Extraordinaire, Lands on
yet another bizarre message from Sunny Leung... He cautiously takes out his
Death Ray Blaster...
SL> Hi Andrew,
Hi.
SL> USR-Netcomm behaviour is quite strange. With the latest M34Fs (eg the
SL> ones on the Canon BBS) my Courier usually connects at 26.4k (28.8k
SL> connects are less common) but then it immediately upshifts to 28.8k.
Hmm, my m34f's pretty old, I bought it in May last year....it connects fine
to USR's but doesn't upshift...I haven't tried putting it in Vfast mode yet.
SL> For some strange reason, apart from USR-USR connects, my Courier gets
SL> its best transfer rates when talking to Netcomm M34Fs at 28.8k - c.
SL> 3350 cps (and this is with LAPM, v.42bis - not MNP4!).
Hmm, I usually get around 3000cps to a USR at 26.4 with LAPM anyway...and get
around 3350-3400cps to another netcomm.
SL> BTW, if I'm buying a new modem after v.34 has fully taken off, I'd
SL> consider a Motorola Powerstyle (I've already got a USR!).
I dunno about the motorola's...I heard that they could only do V34 or something
but I think that was only the Lifestyle series.
CYA!
