Obviously humans were a source of food. Why did they have to go into a
parallel dimension in order to feed? Seems very impractical to me. As
I said, Star Trek is at its best when we come to really understand the
"bad guys." Often they don't turn out to be so bad.
A more "star Trek" resolution for Time's Arrow would be for Picard and
Company to get into communications with the "bad guys" have some kind of
plot twist showing that they aren't just cardboard villains and a
resolution that solves the villain's needs without killing sentients.
