I have a Diamond 28.8 (which everyoen probably already knows from my
numerous messages) internal modem.
In my efforts to sort this modem out (same as Infotel and Dynalink) I have
attempted to do self tests.  The Local &t1, &t8 and Remote &t6,
&t7 all come back with the message "ERROR".
Has anyone got any ideas as to why?  I have s18=20 set.
Also, I have tried to lock the speed of the modem as I am having line
troubles... However, even when I select ATF17 which the manual reads
"Selects VFC 24000bps as the only acceptable line modulation for
subsequent connection"
it stills attempts to connect at 26400 or 28800 at times.  Due to my
problems it receives a whole lot of garbage and disconnects.  Should I be
setting some other registers in addition to lock speed.
The manual suggests to use the Fn command or a combination of S37 and N,
but not both but I have not been able to work out the second method.
Finally, I am using S95=47 so that Terminate will report the connect speed
in the status bar instead of the port speed.  I learnt this from a message
in this echo.. However, sometimes it works and other times it will report
the DTE (?) rate which I am assuming is the port speed.
This usually occurs if the connect is over 14400.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
