The purpose of the white space code is to be able to blindly search for any
combination of tabs and spaces. Its a very flexible and useful construct for
cleaning up documents (which is Mr. Greaves primary objective) in an
automated manner. If its buggy, it defeats the purpose of having it at all.

Yes, that's good practical advice. Unfortunately, Word has a few things that
do not work correctly when a table is involved. The classic example is
inserting a table in the a series of numbered paragraphs. The paragraph
numbering is turned off by the table insertion and there is no way to
continue the paragraph numbering after the table.
