Ruth has a good point. Another thing you can do to help him is a little
"pnemonics". On an 8x11" tagboard or construction paper, draw a lower case b.
Make the letter good and thick. Then, using yellow and black markers, draw
this "b" into a "bee". On another 8x11" tagboard, draw a lower case d. Make
the letter good and thick. Then, using brown and other colors, draw this "d"
into a "dog". (I'd send you a picture of what I mean if I had your mailing
address, but I don't. You can netmail it to me at 202/211 or email me at
dransdell@worldnet.att.net.) Then, post these in the room where he does most
of his written work. Put the B on the left, and the D on the right of him,
according to the direction he faces when writing at his seat.
I had several kids in 2nd grade who had difficulty with b's and d's. I
wouldn't really worry about it until he's in 3rd grade, and even then it will
depend on his consistency and if he's trying to use the "system" you've
established for it.
