 JR> Dear John,

JR> Re your rather silly message (I have not bothered to quote it all)
 JR> which concluded with -

I don't believe it to be silly and not a shadow on the reply I got from you
where you write one line and say you have to finish now and answer next time
 with no answer forthcoming.

TIP: Answer the whole message when you DO HAVE time.

JR> Please re-send any such message to me care of this Aust Modem Echo.

I shall have to dig it up from my mail archives and I will do so.

JR> The only problems we have had with Diamond modems recently (say the
 JR> past year) have been:-
JR> 1) DOAs (Dead on Arrival) due to poor Quality Control at the factory
JR> (we have switched to ISO 9002 and 9001 factories.
JR> 2) Damaged by Power Surge
JR> 3) The usual installation errors with COM ports and/or IRQs. Fixed by
JR> better documentation. 4) Operator error in setting up software.

Thank you for finally admitting that there have been problems in the past
twelve months with DOA's. I was made out to be a complete idiot when I rang
and said that the modem did not work.

Although I do not profess to be an expert in the world of computers and
telecommunications I do believe I do know whether a modem is working.

The modem I'm using at the moment is the THIRD modem that was sent to me.
When I rang regarding the first DOA I finally convinced the employee that
indeed I do have a problem and I returned it by courier expecting a
 replacement before Christmas.

*I* had to finally follow it up and ring and find out where my replacement
was which I received two days after that. I was told that my first DOA worked
when they got it back .

Then when the second modem arrived it was ****DOA**** AS WELL.
I requested a refund as I did not like the quality, which was within about
2 days of my receipt, and was told that my original order was out of the 14
days money back guarentee and there would be a deduction.

HOW THE H*LL WAS THAT MY FAULT WHEN I HAD TO FOLLOW UP THE REPLACEMENT!!!!

What happened to Customer Service and the Customer being right??
I am Facilities Manager at a financial institution and part of my
responsibility is the Customer Service Staff (not to mentioned telephony).
I know that I would get my a*se kicked if I treated customers the way that
 your company did.

I would much prefer to return this modem for a FULL REFUND than to have to
put up with this CR*P from your staff.

I did hold the second DOA until the third one arrived and it did work.
I then put the second one back in without changes any settings and it
did not work. So you can not tell me that the second one (which was stressed
to me over and over again that it had been tested by the staff before it was
sent) was not a ***DOA*** like your company tried to tell me with the first
 one.

 JR> I await your message.

 Part 1 is listed above.

 Regards
 John (The P*ssed-Off Group)
