Cloyce,
We have York chillers at my place of work. One is run by a regular steam
boiler, the other by steam from the co-gen engines. There is NO ammonia
smell. We have a place next door that makes ice on a commercial scale, and
they have a bunch of large ammonia refrigeration compressors. (The old ones
were built in the '20's, but they're no longer in service.) There is a
definite ammonia smell in the air in the compressor room!
