| subject: | GT-Power BBS and terminal |
Thanks for the update. I liked GT when I ran it, but the internet soon
made it not viable for what I was wanting to do, that is an Internet
presence and also run the standard BBS. I can wait. I wouldn't mind
trying out any beta (except dial up). I need to test the telnet. When
that is ready for testing I would be glad to help out.
-> Ruben...
-> RF{at}> Well I'll be a you know what. I never that that Paul would
release GT.
-> RF{at}> I am a GT registered sysop from way back (I think gt14). I would be
-> RF{at}> interested if it works on a 2003 server and has telnet
capabilities. I
-> RF{at}> curently run WinServer which is a very great and powerful tool.
-> As you may recall, Paul quit developing GT back in 1994, after the last
-> version, GT 19, was released (I was one of the beta testers who was happy
-> to upgrade). But, very few of the GT Sysops apparently wanted to do the same,
-> and since GT was Paul's livelihood, he stopped development. From what I recall,
-> he was going to get his son, Mark, to work on it, but Mark neglected his
-> schoolwork...so, Paul sold it to Bill Watts.
-> Unfortunately, for whatever reason, Bill had to give it up, and sold it to
-> Dennis Berry...and Tom recently bought the rights and source code. Tom's
-> nitial
-> goal will be to make GT freeware, and telnet capable under Windows. There will
-> be much more to come, but it obviously will take some time to implement it all.
-> In fact, I'm working on reconfiguring the control files for the system for the
-> switch...it's a lot of tedious work, but I don't mind it a bit.
-> Tom has also said that the new version will be compatable with GT 19, the
-> ast
-> release that Paul put out, but it apparently won't be compatable with prior
-> versions of GT.
