Hey Doug
I had to respond to this. I worked IT for the last 20 years or so and
on one of the last projects I was on we were trying to integrate several
disparate systems. The lead architect designed the data transmission
layout. At the head of each record was the layout of the record and the
rest was made up of the GOB of data. I asked him what G.O.B. stood for and
he answered ..nothing... It's just a big gob of data. And that is the way
it stands today in our official documentation.

It says:

containers from gob delivery through parison formation, invert and final
blow until mould open.
I'm amazed that "gob" is a genuine technical term!
