++> Like Minds? ["The Aryan Christ"] - The Secret Life of Carl Jung
++> by Richard Noll ... 1997 Random House
In perusing the new biography of Carl Young, I noticed some
interesting bendable similarity parallels to your own postings. It
was easy to get the feeling that you and Jung would have shared much
of mind curiosity insights. The book wanders an incredible personality
within an equally complex eclectic intellectual social structure-
......a wide sweep of correlations in "ever-quest" and interplay;
drawing much from "Aryan antiquity", (intuition over reason), direct
"contact with ancestors (the dead)". He drew extensively from the ancient
Hellenistic mystery cults (mysteria). He absorbed heavily from Nietzsche,
Creuzer, Albrecht Dieterich, Richard Reitzenstein, Franz Cumont, Karel
Hendrik, DeJoing, Burkert most of whom were also into the ancient mysteries,
and also Mithris, [and yes! I was some overwhelmed never even having
heard of many of these favorite of his sources] AND ... there is also
much into Dreams, archetypes, myths, "collective unconscious", psychiatry,
analysis, occultism, mysticism, racism, idealization of primitive man, et
al on ....................and on!.
Though drugs are not mentioned, self induced trances are. The
terrible clash between Jung and Freud is covered. Even that,
with the help of millionaires, he started a neopagan religion.
The author makes the point that much of the material on Jung is
protected by his estate and that much that has been published was
done only after careful editing ....that there was more than meets
the eye.
Though apparently of genius reach, he also seems quite human and
sometimes even bizarrly so. I had read a short compilation and
edit of his works some years back by V.S. de Laszlo-

...'There are truths which belong to the future, truths
which belong to the past, and truths which belong to no time'
(...from "The Relations Between the Ego and the Unconscious"
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
...........that one sort of stuck in my memory!
I believed at the time that he was one of those addictive mentors,
brilliant in their literature, that can become an obsession. Such
minds can absorb the private self in THEIR lifetime visions. As with
Chardin, I felt the need to avoid such seductive chains.
Just getting into the new book, might say more later if it turns
out even more interesting.................

P.S. I try not to recommend books but if your library has it,
...might be worth a look-see! Like said, I sometimes had the
feeling I was reading your postings. Frankly, I often have
difficulty integrating the many more complex minds of history
into my own.
