Hi Stephen,

Thanks for your reply.

SL>...and what "features" are you referring to? ;-)

Major active "bugs" ...in colloquial parlance.

SL>BTW what version of firmware do you have at the moment?

SL> * V2.54F - Dec '94, "04BC" (buggy) datapump
SL> * V2.56B - Jan '95, "04BC" (buggy) datapump
SL> * V2.61C1 - May '95, "05BA" datapump

I *had* V2.61C1 until I 'flashed' with 2.61L (from Netcomm's W3 site)
last week.

I note that when B0 is used in the profile, the modem *now* invariably
connects at a noticeably stable 26400 90% of the time, both for VFC &
V34. Previously, it was a bitch for VFC, 50% of the time or greater
connecting at 21600 or lower and gradually retraining up.

Recipient *V34 only* connects were fine, usually resulting in a 28800
initial DCE which remained fairly stable. Now *all* connects are stable,
with V34 usually retraining up to 28800 if the line conditions are OK. I
suspect forcing the connect (ie: *C1B22 etc) in either case would attain
28.8 initial)

Any suggestions or info you have re quirks' of the M34F, I'd love to
hear. So far, as modems go, I've been well pleased with it, and had no
problems other than it's V42 compatibility with *some* other modems.

I have another question for you if you have the time and inclination?

Generally speaking I have been able to connect with every modem I have
dialed for direct PC-PC links, games etc...with one notable exception.

Hayes Accura V34/VFC external....Rockwell chipset versions unknown.

I have tried on numerous occasions to connect to two *different*
examples of this modem at separate phone numbers thus eliminating, on
the balance of probability, line conditions and a single modem being
unserviceable per se.

I have tried every combination I can think of, default, V42 detection
V42/V42bis off MNP4 only, locked 9600 no detection, correction,
compression...Damn..nothing seems to work.

We manage to get a connection, but as soon as data starts transferring,
or attempting to, we get a halt, some polling and an audio indication
the modems are attempting a retrain, then an immediate subsequent
dropped carrier.

Ideas?
