Oh, yes.  Most definitely.  Once the next model is out, and producing
profits, patches for the previous one become rather scarce.

However, there is often a bit of work done on the new model to make SURE
that the "new" features won't fit into the old one.  CF the
wonderous v32bis M5's that "couldn't be done" - until the
prototypes accidentally leaked out into the cold watching world, and were
seen to have done it after all, regardless of the wishes of the sales
dweebs.
