Not very much.  The thesis is, there was a plot to isolate the Emperor and
keep him from broadcasting the surrender.  The bombing raid warning caused
a blackout, which prevented the plot from being successfully carried out.

The author was on the raid himself: I'll take his word for that.  From the
Japanese side, he has a *lot* of supporting information.  It was very
detailed, and as far as I'm concerned the speculation is only on the
"what if?" level-- you can never know for sure what would have
happened otherwise, and whether the coup would have ultimately succeeded,
but he's got pages and pages of endnotes and bibliography.
