Quite easy ... you need to exchange US$ into Euro (even when paying by
credit card that is what happens). At the moment it is roughly
"1Euro=1.22US$". So you're losing already in that single deal.
 
On average prices for many things here are a lot higher per unit here than
overthere. Let's say a pair of Levis ... pay here 45Euro or so ... times
1.22 is $54.90. A loaf of bread costs E1.70 here, so you pay $2.07 etc...
 
It's a weighing of two currencies and two economies versus eachother. The
US-economy is not doing good and the currency is even worse. That does not
affect you as an individual as long as you can buy American stuff, produced
in America with local raw materials. The moment you need to shop abroad you
see the price-hike.
 
Do not believe the politicians saying that your economy is healthy. Go
travel to Europe and find-out the hard way.
