Hi John,
I have one of these modems also and am very happy with it. Since
you seem to speak with authority may I ask you a couple of questions to
help fine tune this modem?
With my modem it had a loose sheet of paper with special init codes
for Australian conditions. Unfortunately most Comms packages don't allow
entry of all these codes. Could you please recommend an init string that
would fit into comms packages such as Telix?
Perhaps Rodney Grieves has some ideas on this?
In many comms packages they have auto configuration files where
they ask you to specify your modem. Is there another (common) brand modem
name which would set up my modem without me having to input individual
strings. So far Telemate for Windows is the only package that just
"works" without some tweaking.
Why does some software packages claim they cannot find error
correction and data compression (though my observation suggests the modem
does, in fact, have these attributes.)?
Thank you for your help ........ Jock.
