I may have a good candidate for the original adaptor between
the world of amino acids and nucleotides.

Many scenarios think that the OOL began with a replicator such
as RNA. Yet that has never worked well, and the problem always
comes up, "why would RNA need protein." I've always suggested
that the two -
the world of protein, and RNA were connected at the start and that there was
something that connected the two - some original adaptor that supported both
groups.

Here's what I think that connector may be

It's the obvious - its ATP!!!

Summary:
The sun produces monomers, leads to
some condensation conditions, plus makes HCN
HCN leads to cyanic condensing agents,  and ATP.
Wherever ATP is, peptides and nucleotides congregate.
Life starts in these ATP islands that combine the worlds
of amino acids, and nucleotides.

We have two main energy sources:
The sun is dry heat/energy,
ATP wet chemical energy.

The sun (and other energy sources)
would first make some monomers.
Then it would do some condensation in dry heat
proteins, polysaccharides, lipids, nucleic acids.


But it would also make HCN.

 Cyanic condensing agents would have
produced peptide bonds, and cause nucleotides
to form.

But most importantly  cyanic condensing agents
would have formed ATP

Wherever ATP was in the sea - there would be
amino acids linked together, and nucleotides would
be joined into long chanins of RNA

That means that ATP would be like a magnet that
attracted peptides and RNA.  Thus the two would be
in the same area at the same time. Selection would
favor wherever ATP was, because that is where the
chemical energy in water would be, to fuel all the
necessary reactions needed for life.

So we should have ATP islands of prebiotic material
congregating.

That's the basic idea - though rough and vague for sure.
