Oh come now, Phil. There is nothing obsessive about it and it is not in the
least bit disturbing.

San Diego is an old navy town with a large navy base. Thirty or forty years
ago much of its prosperity came from the money the base contributed. That
has largely changed, but there are still many navy dependents living on the
base and in the city. Therefore what happens with the Pacific fleet is of
personal interest to many in the San Diego area. It has never been
otherwise in the post WWII years.
