TS>At the present rate, I would pay approx AUS$40 in your country.
Which is a bit much when one has to do it anually.
TS> > Can you give the PSI equivelents for the bar numbers
TS> > of 260 & 300?
TS>300bar = 4350 PSI
Your steel tanks are filled to 300 BAR (4350PSI)? What pressure are the
AL tanks filled to?
TS> > I have dived with a steel tank once in the caribbean,
TS>Correct me if I'm wrong Carl... 72cu' tanks?
I think so, mostly as I said we use AL 80's.
TS>I dive with 100cu' CATALINA (260bar) steel cylinders, apart from
TS>being about 4lb lighter and slightly smaller than a standard 88cu'
TS>Aluminium they
TS>are much more dense in water allowing me to take 8lbs of
TS>lead off my weight belt. This means that I go down to the
TS>dive site 12lbs lighter that if I were to wear an Aluminium
TS>tank.
I like the compact 80 design, they are thicker and shorter than a
standard 80 and are not as bouyant as a standard 80.
TS>I dive in a two piece 1/4" wetsuit with 12lbs of lead,
TS>otherwise 24lbs.
I use a shorty body glove in the tropics and use about 4lbs with it.
TS> > Rarely see a Steel Tank in the Caribbean.
TS>Don't get me wrong I would sooner have a steel
TS>cylinder ANY day than an aluminium.
Why do you prefer the Steel over AL? Besides the bouyancy factor? Can
and do you pressurise the steel tanks to a higher pressure than the al
tanks?
TS> > Are the tank failures in AL or Steel tanks?
TS>Aluminium.
Do you have any idea at what pressure the AL tanks failed?
TS>We have received steel SCUBA tanks in for hydro over 30years old,
TS>they pass with flying colors.
TS> > No just a joke, the school is : Wilson's home for
TS> > Wayward Women, and those that wish to be wayward. :)
TS>Love it!
When I retire I hope to go full time in the school business!
