Well, I myself don't agree i'll tell you why.

Ok I'll tell you my experience with this split speed thing. There is
a USR I call here in sydney with my banksia. It happens pretty much
only with this modem. 9 out of 10 times when I call this modem I get
a 26400/28800 the 28800 always favours the courier, don't ask me why.
Now if the courier didn't support split speeds i'm sure i'd get a
full 28.8k connect. It also confuses the bbs program. But anyway I
might just call the banksia board and see if there's a new firmware
release. Now, this is the only usr that does it. It's the only time
i've ever seen split speeds. I usally get excellent cps with USR
modems, such as the one i'm probably uploading this packet on now ;)
Now my modem SUPPORTS split speeds, but it doesn't initiate them.
SL> I guess it's still true that you pay for what you get.
Well my modem works reliably, i'm happy with my purchase, I wasn't
initially but for the past year I have been. Banksia do quite a bit
of work on their firmware. I'm sorry, I say this alot in this echo
but I like the 'ol (it is getting rather old) banksia :)
