    I apparently got a similar problem with QmPro. I used Com1 (3F8/Irq4)
for bbs running. When i come to use my Com3 (3E8/Irq12) for calling while
my Com1 is active. It results a carrier detect on Com1. I tested with other
modem terminals and never got this. And both comm port are 16550 buffered.
Also, when i exit from QmPro with Com3 active, it shut down my Com1 by a DTR 
off. Weird ??
  I wonder If any update is planed for Qmpro Dos? i still use 1.53
