OK now you've got the idea.  The advantage of installing in a window is that 
you would tend to get "plug flow"; that is all the air would be flowing 
through the filter in a once thru manner.  You might achieve similar results 
by filtering from one room to the other in your home ...  tho if the filter 
is not as efficient as you would like, it may transport the finer dust from 
the bird room to the other ... sigh ... be sure to make provisions for the 
'fresh' air to enter the bird room opposite the fan side.
