BG> Well it's certainly done that way on my old Courier HST, vintage 1988.

RS> Yeah, wouldnt surprise me if its been there for quite some time.

BG> I'd suggest that it's always been that way with USRs.

RS> Dunno, there was a time when they even used rockwell chipsets.

BG> Crap. According to USR themselves, they've NEVER used a Rockwell chipset.

Fraid they have Bill, tho it was admittedly back in the early days
and might well have been with 2400 modems. I forget exactly when
they stopped, it may well have been at the time they started with HST.

BG> Once again, IYO. USR obviously disagree with you though.

RS> Yes, but they dont have a good reason for doing that do they ?

BG> Who knows? And more importantly, who really cares? I sure don't.

You may well not. Those who care about robust designs that dont bite
may do tho. It makes no sense whatever to be doing the ATZ command
differently to the way everyone else does it for no good reason and
its even worse to not adequately document that thats been done.
