Hi Phil,
For years I have just used the Apple LaserWriter Plus PS driver v42_2
for my Apple LW Select 310 (mono - 300 dpi). Reading your message
prompted me to actually look for a specific PPD file to import - as it's
not listed in the PSCRIPT.DRV. Back in 1993, I obtained the full PS
package direct from Adobe, but had forgotten I had it! :-[
I downloaded both from Adobe and another URL, PPD files for the
LaserWriter-Select 310 v52.5l.
One was obviously for Windows as it had lines terminated by 0x0d,0x0a
and was a few hundred bytes larger than the other which was terminated
with just 0x0a - Mac style.
I ran the instpdr and everything in the window indicated it had updated
pscript.drv OK.
However attempting to either modify the current setup or install another
printer resulted in the Select 310 v52.51 not showing up in the
selection list.
I had backed up a copy of pscript.drv - which existed identically under
both \ecs and \os2 trees - and comparing the files after using instprd
resulted in the following;
Fri 18/04/2008 22:22:49.50 AEST
[512MB RAM J:\os2\dll\pscript]dir j:\pscript.drv /s
The volume label in drive J is ECSV20RC4-J.
The Volume Serial Number is 0963:D5C4.
Directory of J:\ecs\install\PRNDRV\PMDD_0
31/01/05 11:32 806,550 26,296 a--- PSCRIPT.DRV
1 file(s) 806,550 bytes used
Directory of J:\OS2\DLL\PSCRIPT
31/01/05 11:32 806,550 26,296 a--- PSCRIPT.DRV
1 file(s) 806,550 bytes used
Total files listed:
2 file(s) 1,613,100 bytes used
595,202,048 bytes free
Fri 18/04/2008 22:22:58.26 AEST
[512MB RAM J:\os2\dll\pscript]comp
J:\ecs\install\PRNDRV\PMDD_0\pscript.drv J:\O
S2\DLL\PSCRIPT\pscript.drv /b
Compare file J:\ecs\install\PRNDRV\PMDD_0\PSCRIPT.DRV and file
J:\OS2\DLL\PSCRIPT\PSCRIPT.DRV.
The files compare OK.
So, obviously nothing made any changes to either of the pscript.drv
files - file timestamps are unchanged also.
I had also run pin.exe at the CLI directly with the same result - zilch
different.
Any idea what I did wrong?
[ISTR reading about a limitation of 1024 printers or something?]
Regards,
Mike
