Jamie, you are correct with the crab and kick method.  Those, I've 
found, that cross control all the way down final have much worst 
landings consistantly.  I would suggest however that you not be stingy 
with the increase in airspeed over VREF as the stretch is unforgiving if 
it gets too slow.  Unlike the 100 it doesn't do much floating and when 
you start the cross controlling and happen to get a spoiler and ailerons 
and rudder acting as drag then it is easy to drop it in.  There is no 
tendency to be displaced from the center line unless you line it up off 
center line.
I have seen both methods and believe me the crab and kick is best in all 
cases.....Jim.....
