subject: USRMaestro connects

While listening to Bill Grimsley Pete heard:USRMaestro connects

G'day Bill

PC> Iv'e never seen a asymmetric connect to a M34F so maybe Netcomm
 PC> don't support it.

BG> Not only do NetComm support asymmetrical link rates with V.34,

That's good to hear, Wonder if it's always been there and i just
haven't seen it or it's been added in the later 2.61L flash code.

BG> they also appear to speed-shift transparently, just like the
BG> USR. Recent polls to Paul's board have shown an initial connect
BG> of say 21600/24000, yet the final stats sometimes indicate that
BG> the modems have shifted up (without retraining) to 28800/28800.
BG> The USR is certainly far superior on marginal lines though.

I have seen the speed shift in the M34F before, i quite often connect
to one at 26400 and upshift to 28800 almost straight away, BTW You
must be about the only one getting good connects to Pauls board.
