RG> I have just used the Telstra Faxstream Testfax Plus number three

RG> times using the 5/7/95 SDL, 18/7/95 SDL and the one referred to

RG> above. I have received reports back on each of the

 RG> transmissions.

RG> The 5/7 code results received a "POOR" rating because the

RG> transmission level was -8.6dBm and was reported to be 10.4dB too

 RG> high (loud).

 RG> The 18/7 code received a "FAIR" rating with a -13.0 dBm

RG> transmission level and was reported as being 6.0dB too high

 RG> (loud).

RG> The recent hacked US code also received a "POOR" rating with the

RG> highest transmission level of -8.4dBm and was report as being

 RG> 10.6dB too high.

RG> The recommended Telstra transmission level for Faxes is -19dBm

RG> as the optimum and lowest level. For analog telephone exchanges

RG> a level of between -19 to -16dBm is said to be satisfactory.

RG> Lower levels are said to help overcome some echo problems.

RG> All faxes sent by my OZ Courier (all three SDL's) were

RG> transmitted 100% error free at 14400 bits per sec at fine image

RG> resolution. Line noise level of -54.9dBm were reported as

 RG> excellent.

RG> I haven't sent many real world faxes with the Courier so am

RG> unsure as to what the readings mean in practice. I can say

RG> though, that I haven't had any failures in the fax transmissions

 RG> so far.

 RG> Anyone want to comment.

Yes, NOW WHOSE COMPLAINING.

All the time you were using this FOLDS service (you sent & received faxes)

Did you realise that Your Courier was actually doing its job and talking

to the Telstra equipment in a manner that actually achieved the desired

results. (To send & receive faxes without fault at the highest possible

speed with industrial strenght reliabilty)

In the end isn't that what you bought you Courier for, in the first place

Thanks for those test results, but I think that I would take word of an

engineer at USR as gospel before I took the word of an engineer at Telstra

( Who is only in the job because he's not good enough to get a real job in

the outside world)
