| subject: | USR Courier??? |
-= Pete Replied to Paul Edwards about: USR Courier??? =- G'day Paul DT> Is there a problem with the USR Couriers? or is there just a DT> problem with one or two users of these modems? PC> Think you'll find it's the latter, my Courier works just fine. PE> Autobauds on ATZ does it? No, but i don't consider it a problem. PE> Just because you don't use it on the same variety of modems that PE> I do, does not make the problems disappear into thin air. True, but if the ATZ quirk was such a big problem we would be hearing far more about it than we have to date, and your right i don't use my USR on a great variety of modems but others here are using USR's to run BBS's, mail hubs etc that aren't having the problems you seem to be having. I'm not paying out on you or saying you don't know what your doing, clearly you do and we all agree that ATZ resetting the port speed to a pre-saved value is behavior not seen in other modems, whether it's a bug, quirk or side effect of the AT&B2 command i don't know it's just there, do we write off the USR Courier as a crap modem because of it. Have you ever considered the fact that the Courier you trialed may have been faulty? some of the ATI11 dumps you posted as you stated yourself "Defied the laws of Physics", and i'm not refering to the ATZ issue here. Anyway this whole issue is starting to take on a life of it's own and it is after all just a storm in a teacup. BTW Hows the M34F performing so far, i'm using an M11F on my mailer here and it gives me no problems apart from calling a system on very bad lines where i only get a 4800 connect, oddly enough the USR will get 16800 connects to that system. -=Pete=- --- OMX/Blue Wave v2.12* Origin: Gates of Hell (3:713/914.16) SEEN-BY: 50/99 78/0 620/243 623/630 624/300 625/100 711/401 409 410 413 430 SEEN-BY: 711/510 808 809 899 932 934 712/515 713/111 317 601 605 611 615 618 SEEN-BY: 713/620 676 700 888 914 714/906 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 713/914 615 888 711/808 809 934 |
