G'day Bobby,
BB> We also find it interesting as to what frequency ranges your locals
BB> use, and who they are. And while we may not need Australian frequencies
BB> at the moment, some of us may get a chance to visit your great land.
GF> So what would you like to know about ?????
BB> Hi Greg,
BB> What frequencies are alloted to the public service groups, police,
BB> fire, EMTs, business, etc. And anything else you are willing to tell
BB> us, as long as you won't be getting yourself in trouble by doing so.
I couldn't help myself when I came across this message.
I've been interested in scanners myself for about 5 or so years now. I
built my hobby up from a small 16 channel scanner to the 1000 channel
kob I have now. Currently I operate a Realistic Pro 2035 scanner, with
a Discone antenna.
Since I live in the bush, I listen to our local services, plus some
very long range DX'ing during the hot summer months.
For your interest I listen to the following services on the following
frequencies. (in no particular order)
Frequency Description
169.030 Mhz. Port Augusta Police
169.240 Mhz. Port Pirie Police
450.200 Mhz. Australia National Railways (ANR)
473.050 Mhz. Electricity Trust of South Australia (ETSA)
474.775 Mhz. Port Augusta Power Station Security
494.800 Mhz. Port Augusta Prison
168.640 Mhz. ANR Shunter
413.950 Mhz. Saint Johns Ambulance Service
168.580 Mhz. ANR
168.520 Mhz. ANR
160.450 Mhz. ETSA
168.550 Mhz. ANR
418.575 Mhz. ANR (AUSTRAK radio system)
167.380 Mhz. Marines and Harbours (Based in Wallaroo)
That's just a few frequencies that I listen to, I send a more comprehensive
list if you want.
BTW. I live in Port Augusta, South Australia, at the very top of Spencers
Gulf.
