| subject: | Our MMP system sux... |
G'morning Bob,
2 letters in the New Zealand Herald (www.nzherald.com.nz) this am
turn me real nasty.
I shall write to the Editor, saying...
After WW2, Germany was forced into using a proportional voting
system called MMP that would prevent a fresh Hitler taking over.
It seemed to work as planned until a gullible 41% of NZ's eligible
voters planted MMP in NZ's fertile soils - where it swiftly became
a weed far worse than gorse or kikuya.
The way through the MMP barricade is now absolutely clear. The
next step is simply to reduce the public's role still further to
just a party vote, leaving those entities to field whatever team
of acolytes their leaders deem worthy.
And then NZ will no longer suffer the embarrassment of having
Parliamentary votes diametrically opposite of public polls,
referunda and jury decisions.
With no way left to the public to vote for a specific policy or
representative, surveys, votes and juries can be made redundant -
being clearly inappropriate and not politically correct.
Your correspondents, Francis and Boscett, will help form the next
minority that completes this perversion of democracy, judging by
the degree to which they appear still blind to its essential
malevolence.
Will no one allow voters a declarative referundum on MMP ?
.... and then I'll get out my horsewhip and take the missive down
to the Herald's offices....
