Hi Michael.
MG> MG>> Sanctions don't just have to be trade, they can be withdrawl of
MG> MG>> diplomats and embassies, and withdrawl of cooperation with the
MG> MG>> USA. Canada doesn't necessarily have to participate in sanctions,
MG> MG>> just show support for them. It'd sure give the USA cause to stop
MG> MG>> and think...
MG> DP> For about a minute. And then they'd be "f**k
Canada!" and they would
MG> DP> stop trading with us.
MG> They can't stop trading with us; we're their biggest trading partner, and it
MG> would hurt their economy far too much.
What you say makes sense. Yet there are some extremely myopic northern
State senators who can't seem to see that. They're the ones lobbying
the federal government everytime they turn around. They attacked us on
our softwood lumber AND on our steel (I forget what else). They only see
what's immediate to them and their state.
MG> DP> I'm of the opinion that in any trade with the
MG> DP> U.S. we get the better end of the stick. The cessation of
MG> DP> trade, whether instigated by us or them, would hurt us far more.
MG> Are you so sure? What if we cut off their cheap supply of natural gas and
MG> water? California, for one example, would be crippled.
How long do you suppose we'd get away with that? Ultimately, the
stronger man wins, doesn't he?
