1. Is your modem on the correct COM port? Check the BBS.CTL file that was 
generated.  
2. Do you have a comms fossil installed? Did you "recapture" the comms fossil 
interrupt after installing the chat fossil?  
3. Does your modem init string make sense? If you send the same init string 
to the modem in a terminal program, does the modem respond with "OK"?  
4. Try replacing the modem init string with just "AT|".
