Last weekend I bought a 540 meg IDE drive (Conner CFS540A)
from Acuma Computers (phone 02-906-3485), for $320. Now
THAT is a bargain, if ever I've heard one, at less than
$0.60 per meg. They are located in Crows Nest, Sydney.
I have bought stuff from them before, and they seem like
a nice-enough crowd. I bought a Maxtor drive from them,
and it died a couple of hours after using it, and I took
it back and they gave me a replacement, no problem. I
bought a VLbus video card, IDE controller card, and SCSI
card from them, and although the IDE + SCSI cards worked
fine by themselves, they didn't like each other. I took
the IDE back and got another one (same brand), and had
the same problem. So they replaced it with another brand.
I suggest that after you've found the lowest price for a
piece of equipment, ring them up before you buy.
BFN. Paul.
P.S. I am in no way associated with the shop, except that
I am a customer.
