EA>Last week we were having our weekly jam session, and a new guy came over
EA>and brought his guitar, and some kind of multi-effects pedal that was
EA>relatively new. He didn't seem to know how to work it very well, but
EA>did manage to get some good effects out of it. However in the process
EA>he got some _really_ loud unintentional noises out of it also. ;-(
EA>The result of all of this... When I played through it the other night,
EA>(it's my spare/practice amp) it sounded crappy. I think the speaker
EA>is now shot. It's a Fender M-80. It's solid state with "tube-emulation"
EA>Whatever that is. :-) Anyway, I really like this amp, as it has a good
EA>tone, 2 channels, one clean, one you can really crank the gain on. It
EA>has tons of power, maybe 80 watts? Also has two inputs and a headphone
You should be able to get a generic Eminence speaker (same brand as the
Fender OEM speaker) that will handle 80 watts or more for $30-40. I
suspect the exact same speaker with a Fender decal on it will be double.
However, I wouldn't run out and buy a new speaker until you verify that
it is "shot" by playing your amp through another 8 ohm speaker. Good
luck.
