The use of fans to move the air around the room will help immensly in the averaging of the air in the room and after a few minutes of the fan blowing, you will see that, while there are still air currents, they are of a very short wavelength and are moving very fast across the image of the mirror. After a bit longer, the ripples will soon subside and you will be able to test, even while the heater is blowing!
