I might note here that "homogenizing" the air is also good when
you are doing an optical test on a piece of glass during the winter now
that the heat is on in the house.  The use of fans to move the air around
the room will help immensly in the averaging of the air in the room and
after a few minutes of the fan blowing, you will see that, while there are
still air currents, they are of a very short wavelength and are moving very
fast across the image of the mirror.  After a bit longer, the ripples will
soon subside and you will be able to test, even while the heater is
