A single 1 Meg Simm is only 9 bits wide.
You require 4 of these for the system to recognise them.

As I said you may be able to install 1 Meg using 256 K modules (4 of them).
you will have to move your existing 1 Meg Simms to the second bank and
place the 256K simms in the first bank.
