Just the name, more than anything.  Back in the day, I worked with Ken and 
Kevin Carpenter on some aspects of WWIVGate.  It was later sold to WWIV 
Software Services for inclusion in the network packages.  I believe there was 
some disagreement on the source (or it was lost at some point).  So, I've 
retained WWIVGate rather than upgrading to WFido.  There are some minor 
differences in construction of configuration files and such, if I remember 
correctly.  Also, WWIVGate does not handle Y2K properly, thus the posts you 
see here have a malformed date.  (I use the free PKTDate utility to timestamp 
things properly before they go out on the Fidonet backbone, though.)
