Gold plating is when someone thinks the bird is obviously mad of gold.
For example, as most of us are in this because we love birds, and some
of us are in this to make money, and some are in it for the avicultural
aspect, there are some people who have birds necessary for breeding that
are not offered at a reasonable price. Reasonable varies from area to
area, but there are some people that want to make people pay through the
nose for breeding stock just because the birds arent' common. We ask
fair prices and are told they are usually somewhat low and try to see
that the birds do get out for breeding. For exam[le we breed Red bellied
Macaws and these aren't common. Birds go to breeders first at a fair
price.
