subject: ASCII FILES

I have downloaded a file as an ASCII Text file.
The file contains the following information. Part No (10 ch) 3 spaces
Part Description (20 chars max) 3 spaces, and finally dollar value
(6char with 3 dec.)
What I am trying to do, is move the information into a table so that I
can manipulate the information. Is there a way (Pdox 4.5), that I can
break that information down?
Thanks for any help possible.

Windows or DOS version? In Windows you can do a fixed length import.

Might be an easier way, but this is what'd I'd do...
        1. Use a text editor with search & replace. Replace 3
                spaces with a comma.
        2. Make sure each record is on a separate line. Might
                require manual editing.
        2. Import the file as a comma deliminated ASCII file.
A short BASIC program could separate the records into separate
lines, if necessary, as well as insert the commas, but for a
relatively small DB it probably isn't worth the time.
