But wait a minute. Why improve what is fixed?
If the adaptation is high - then stay in stabilizing
selection. If low then change is favored. Again I
suggest this model for selection pressure

As environmental adaptation increases
stabilizing selection increases and
directional and diversifying selection decreases.

AND VICE VERSA

As environmental adaptation decreases
stabilizign selection decreases and
directional and diversifying selection increases.

In other words, Dawkins suggestion is half the
answer - the half where there is still environmental
selection pressure.
