While listening to Malcolm Wan Pete heard:SMARTLINK V32TERBO G'day Malcolm MW> Now here's my init string pretty basic as you will see... MW> AT &F E1 &K3 %C1 \N3 L0 M3 ~~~ ^^^ change this to %C2 and see what happens MW> Now comes the funny bit. MW> When it connects to another 14400, I am able to DL and UL at around MW> 1630+cps But..! *WHEN* it connects to a NETCOMM M34F 28.8, I can only MW> DL and UL at a sickly *1350* or slightly lower CPS rate...SHIT!!! Why's MW> that? %C1 is MNP5 compression which when DLing already compressed files slows things up quite a bit because it tries to recompress already compressed files, using %C2 tells the modem to use V42bis compression which is smarter and steps aside if the file can't be compressed any more. The reason the Netcomm is slower would be that it has been configured to allow both MNP5 & V42bis compression, the others are more than likely configured for no compression or V42bis only, as your requesting MNP5 compression via the %C1 command the Netcomm is only giving you what you ask for. If your modem doesn't support %C2 then just turn off compression with %C0 -=Pete=- --- OMX/Blue Wave v2.12* Origin: Gates of Hell (3:713/914.16) SEEN-BY: 50/99 78/0 620/243 623/630 624/300 625/100 711/401 409 410 413 430 SEEN-BY: 711/510 808 809 899 932 934 712/515 713/111 317 601 605 611 615 618 SEEN-BY: 713/620 676 700 888 914 714/906 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 713/914 615 888 711/808 809 934 |
