-> minutes and 3 hours to complete. Occasionally it freezes the DOS
-> session. If I could somehow automate the restarting of that DOS
-> session that everything runs in, like in the days of DOS when we had
-> a "watchdog" utility to reboot the system, I would.
If you are looking to reboot the system and you are using xp pro
you can use the shutdown command. Other version of windows may also
have the shutdown command. You can use that to reboot the system. I
haven't found a way to command prompt the shutting down and starting of
individual dos windows as of yet. You can use the /? on the shutdown
command to list the parameters. The -r will shutdown and reboot. The -f
will force application to close without warning.
The shutdown command help me out when I was away from my system for
11 days and my all internet access methods to my system locked up. I was
able to dial into the bbs drop to DOS and issue the shutdown command
thus rebooting the system restoring internet access.
