well, taking over datastream after tony's death from MD really gave me a 
perspective on the situation regarding running a bbs after someone's death.

i say the best thing to do is run it only if you want to run it, only if your 
heart is in it.

when tony died he asked that his bbs be kept running, because he cared for 
his users so much.  he had no forethought whatsover, and his sister and 
mother couldnt keep it working.
also they liked to download viruses disguised as casino games :D

luckily i saw it was being abused and offered to help. rebooted it once and
windows98 wasnt there anymore due to the viruses :D

then Bryan turner and I worked out a partnership to keep it running, it's 
been quite difficult to say the least.

we almost lost the domain but i was able to break into his RR email account 
and get it away from that bastard of a company network solutions.
finally 2 years later he have everything running [sans some dead ibbs 
leagues], we have the domain xfered.

what a pain in the ass though. everything is always breaking, users dont give 
feedback. gamers are a different breed.

after all this i think it would have been wiser for tony to just take down
his system and say goodbye to his users, though.

even though datastream is back stronger than ever, i think that's the way 
things should be done.
