Carl,
Thank you for your reply. It is fantastic that you are able to offer
the students such a student-centred approach to learning. It is also
interesting to see the way other subjects are integrated with computer
studies (ie. art/reports for other subjects). Could a reason
for some of the students who are having trouble be that they may not
have computers at home, and therefore may feel overwhelmed by it all?
Grammar and spelling could also be affected by the unfamiliarity with
a keyboard, and not re-reading a document. It is a shame that through funding
the students lack support, however it seems that you are doing all you can to
foster the learning of each student. Could the students who
are literate with computer technology maybe help otherstudents who are having
difficulty? A peer teaching program (ie.older students who are confident with
computers could help to teach younger students) could also be a help to you.
How do you motivate the learning of students? I find this the trigger to
successful learning. I would be interested in your thoughts on this. I hope
to hear from you soon. Erin....
