-=> Quoting Russell Brooks to Robert Gorey <=-

RG> I have just used the Telstra Faxstream Testfax Plus number three
RG> times using the 5/7/95 SDL, 18/7/95 SDL and the one referred to
RG> above. I have received reports back on each of the
 RG> transmissions.

RG> All faxes sent by my OZ Courier (all three SDL's) were
RG> transmitted 100% error free at 14400 bits per sec at fine image
RG> resolution. Line noise level of -54.9dBm were reported as
 RG> excellent.

RG> I haven't sent many real world faxes with the Courier so am
RG> unsure as to what the readings mean in practice. I can say
RG> though, that I haven't had any failures in the fax transmissions
 RG> so far.

 RG> Anyone want to comment.

 RB> Yes, NOW WHOSE COMPLAINING.

Not me. :-) The data was posted for comment.

RB> All the time you were using this FOLDS service (you sent & received
RB> faxes) Did you realise that Your Courier was actually doing its job and
RB> talking to the Telstra equipment in a manner that actually achieved the
RB> desired results. (To send & receive faxes without fault at the highest
RB> possible speed with industrial strenght reliabilty)

Yes.... and with every other fax I have sent both in OZ and OS
including Fax machines and modems. Never a failure. :-) I have
however sent less than 100 faxes in total to maybe 8 or 10
destinations so my sampling isn't that large.

RB> In the end isn't that what you bought you Courier for, in the first
 RB> place

 Right. :-)

RB> Thanks for those test results, but I think that I would take word of
RB> an engineer at USR as gospel before I took the word of an engineer at
RB> Telstra ( Who is only in the job because he's not good enough to get a
RB> real job in the outside world)

Better read my post again. Never did I say I accept the word of
Telstra. I am interested however in comments on whether
Telstra's statement about desirable levels has *any* validity
and further whether other people are experiencing similar
 results to me.

 Cheers

 Rob
